Get Ready, Get Set, it’s the 2017 SPELL-A-THON PFA Fundraiser!
What is it for? The Parent Faculty Association (PFA) raises money to supplement the Jessie Beck Elementary School budget provided by the Washoe County School District which is critical as schools receive less and less from the district each year. This money is essential for the PFA to provide tools necessary to teach our children, such as computers, library books, art supplies and physical education supplies. Our teachers need and deserve our support so that they can more effectively teach our children.
What Can You Do: Using this Spell-A-Thon pledge package, find sponsors to pledge money for participation. Your child will receive a practice Spelling word list created by the teachers for each grade level. It will be used for the Spell-A-Thon test scheduled for Friday, February 17th.
Beginning Now: Each child should practice their spelling words and find sponsors. Sponsors should be family, friends, neighbors, and other people they/you know. Don’t solicit strangers or go door-to-door. Contact friends and family from out of the area that can just drop a check in the mail! Parents can help find corporate sponsors, too! Sponsors can make a flat donation or pledge an amount for each correctly spelled word. It is easier to collect flat donations up front. You will be notified as to the number of correctly spelled words your child does for pledges based for spelled words on the day of the Spell-A-Thon test.
Important Dates to Remember:
Friday, February 17th Spell-A-Thon Test Day: Every student will get a cool testing pencil to use and take home on Friday, February 17th at 9:00! When tests are completed, they will be collected and graded. Students will know the results by the end of the day!
From February 9th through February 24th: Students have 2 weeks to collect their pledge money. Make checks payable to Jessie Beck PFA.
February 24th: Return pledge money to teachers by Friday, February 24th and receive a super cool Dog Tag to wear as a necklace or hang on a backpack. To earn prizes, students need to return their pledge envelopes and money by February 24th!
Learning Express Toy Store Lottery: Students who raise at least $100 will have their name entered in a drawing to win one of ten $25 gift certificates to the Learning Express Toy Store!
Level Up Curbside Gaming Truck: The 2 top money earning students from each class will get to have a great time on Thursday, March 9th in the Video Game truck playing all types of fun games.
Corporate Sponsors: Count toward class tally and individual student.

Although all PFA revenues go into the general fund, our goal for this fundraiser would fund our entire art program for the year or almost fully fund our PE program or all of our library needs! Your support is vital to Jessie Beck.
