From Angel Fischer, Librarian:
October 30, 2019
Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped with our Book Fair, we could not have done any of it without you and you are appreciated beyond words!
This year, the books fair made a grand total of $13,400!!! Our school will see a percentage of those profits and they will go towards building our Spanish section, teacher read a louds and updating our nonfiction. We were able to donate $300 in books to the Boys and Girls Club Early Learning Centers around Reno—these books will help teachers during circle and story time prepare children for kindergarten as well as help them get excited about learning to read!
We sold a grand total of 1,641 books out of our book fair this fall—and do you know what THAT means? Mrs. Fischer is keeping good on her word—same as last year and has selected Georgia Mandell to push a pie in her face!! Mrs. Fischer makes the students a bet every year that for every 1,000 books sold at the book fair, she will let the student with the most library book circulations for the year push a pie in her face. This year’s “pieing” will take, or will have taken place on Friday 11/01 at 2:10!! (Photo is from last year).
November is here! In the library we will be learning about the 400 and 500 section of Dewey Decimal and all about being thankful, giving back to others and of course—staying Respectful, Responsible and Kind.
Thank you all again and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
If you are interested in donating books to our library—please do! I will go through them and anything we can not use I will offer back, put in our little community library, or send off to other schools in our district—no matter what; the books you donate go back to kids in our community.
