Who we are:

The Dual Language Advisory Council (DLAC) is a group of dedicated parents, teachers, and community members who work together to strengthen the Spanish-English Dual Language program at Jessie Beck Elementary and within Jessie Beck. We welcome all interested members and meet at least four times throughout the school year. Contact Rachel Stepina, DLAC President, at rabreithaupt@gmail.com with questions.

Our Mission:

Support and advocate for the development of biliterate, bilingual, and culturally responsive school programs by promoting high levels of achievement and diversity within the dual language program and our community.

To achieve this mission we will:
  • Communicate and educate all stakeholders of the benefits of Dual Language Education (DLE)
  • Educate policymakers
  • Bridge the gap between monolingual and bilingual classrooms
  • Educate parents within the program
  • Continuously update resources for families
  • Celebrate and encourage diversity
  • Streamline procedures for entering the DL program
  • Create handouts to inform incoming families regarding the program

Meetings:
Anyone interested in advocating for the support and growth of dual language education is welcome to attend DLAC meetings! Fill out our membership survey here: DLAC MEMBERSHIP SURVEY. Zoom links will be shared with everyone who has filled out the membership survey.  Attend in person at Strong Start Childcare Services Center, 961 Matley Ln. suite 110. Meetings are held from 6:30-7:30 PM. We look forward to seeing you there!
