Strolling Scarecrow Map
Vote for your favorite strolling scarecrow
Set up a scarecrow in person at the school festival on October 19 --OR-- a "strolling scarecrow" on your front yard from October 16-22. Family and group scarecrow entries will be judged separately from classroom scarecrow entries. See pictures of our "strolling scarecrow" entries from last year, below!

SCARECROW CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES
  1. PARTICIPANTS: Students (Individual and groups) and families may enter. Classroom entries will be in a category of their own.
  2. PRIZE CATEGORIES: 
    • TRADITIONAL
    • FUNNIEST
    • SCARIEST
    • MOST CREATIVE
    • HOME MEANS NEVADA
  3. PRIZES: Jessie Beck classrooms will receive traveling trophies
    1. First place in all categories - $40
    2. Second place in all categories - $20
    3. Third place in all categories - $10
  4. SCARECROW SPECIFICATIONS (at the festival, not strolling)
    1. SET-UP: A metal stake will be provided for each scarecrow if needed.  The builder of the scarecrow must provide material for securing the scarecrow to the stake.
    2. MATERIALS: As all scarecrow entries must remain on display out-of-doors and may be subject to bad weather, their construction should be durable.
    3. ELECTRICITY: As no electricity is available for scarecrows, you must provide your own power source (no power generators, please).
  5. ALL PARTICIPANTS READ: The Principal, scarecrow committee and/or judges at Jessie Beck reserve the right to reject any scarecrow if the theme depicts violence or any other inappropriate content.
  6. NOTE: We are not held responsible for damage or theft during the contest at Jessie Beck.
  7. PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE: All entry forms must be turned in by Monday, October 17, for event scarecrows, Sunday October 16, for strolling scarecrows.
  8. DELIVERY OF ENTRIES: Entrants must check in at the registration table before setting up their scarecrows.  Entrants may bring their scarecrows between 8AM-12NOON on Wednesday, October 19.  Someone will be on hand to assist entrants in locating designated posting sites and to help with scarecrow set-ups.
  9. JUDGING: Judging will take place at approximately 1:30PM on Wednesday, October 19.  Award ceremony will be held at approximately 4:30PM. Strolling scarecrows and event scarecrows will compete against each other. A separate award, "people's choice" will be given for strolling scarecrows only and will be the result of our online poll. The poll will be open from October 13-22.
  10. EVENT SCARECROWS MUST BE REMOVED BETWEEN 5:00-5:30PM CONTEST NIGHT.
