Join us for the second annual Jessie Beck Seedling Sale! ALL PROCEEDS GO BACK TO JESSIE BECK AND THE GARDEN!

The 2nd annual Jessie Beck Garden Seedling Sale offers 16 varieties of tomatoes, several peppers: shishito, Jalapeno, Orange Jalapeno, Serrano, and more. New this year are numerous summer and winter squash and in addition to veggies, we’ll have 6-packs of dahlia’s.

San Marzano
San Marzano is considered one of the best paste tomatoes of all time, with Old World look and taste. Whole 4–6 oz. tomatoes peel easily and cook down quickly. Various strains of San Marzano exist; this strain was selected by tomato breeder Emily Rose Haga from seeds from the USDA gene bank, which is designed to preserve genetic diversity and increase food security. The strain originates from Parma, Italy, where it was developed for the 1950's canning industry. This strain has a very traditional San Marzano shape and appearance as well as a vibrant red color. Indeterminate.

New Girl
Fruits avg. 4–6 oz. and have better flavor and are more disease resistant than Early Girl. Widely adapted. Indeterminate. USDA Certified Organic.

Picture

Apricot Zebra
Stunning, richly tangerine-colored cherries. They are very unique in appearance, as the lime-green shoulders and extra-fine green striping of the unripe fruit morph to brilliant yellow at maturity. The firm-fleshed, slightly oblong golf-ball-sized fruit are perfect for salads or snacking. Vigorous, disease-resistant plants are wildly productive. Luscious! One of the best-tasting tomatoes we have tried, being flavorsome and sweet with a wonderful texture.

Berkeley Tie Dye

8-16 oz. fruit, this tomato blows people away, a favorite to many of my chefs. Mid-late to late, 75-90 days. Indeterminate, regular leaf plants. Green fruit with yellow and red stripes. Creamy green flesh infused with various shades of red and yellow. Each of these colors has a different flavor resulting in a spicy, sweet, tart tomato with good acid all in one.

Showstopper

3 – 5 oz., Indeterminate, Mid-Late Season (around 80-90 Days to Maturity).  Semi-Heart Shaped.  Well above average production for us for us every year.  This is a compact indeterminate, averages 3-5 feet.  Plants are fairly stocky; leaves are beautiful with dark green almost blue leaves.  Outstanding Rich Complex Flavor.  This variety actually tastes as good as it looks.  The interior is very meaty with a great balance of richness, Acid and Sweetness.  Just Superb!

Barry’s Crazy Cherry

Huge clusters of pale yellow, oval shaped cherry tomatoes. Very good, sweet flavor.Huge harvest potential. Come from the largest cherry tomato clusters I have ever seen.

Picture

Sweet Cream

1-3 oz indeterminate. Pointed paste shape. Creamy yellow with stripes that blushes red when extra ripe. One of the sweetest, fruitiest tomatoes I have eaten. Excellent ability to hang ripe on the vine for extended periods. Stores well post-harvest. Good crack resistance.

Josh’s Garnet

Cherry Tomato, Indeterminate, Early (70-75 Days to Maturity).  Aggressive Growing with good production which is common with cherry tomatoes. Deep Red Cherry Tomato.  Very Sweet but also complex, related to Tim’s Taste of paradise.  Exceptional unique flavor that customers will appreciate as well as home gardeners.  Like most cherry varieties, this tomato does well under most conditions

Indigo Kumquat
High-yielding plants produce 15–20 gram orange fruits with dark indigo-colored shoulders. Very sweet flavor with a surprising, tart kick of acidity. Compact indeterminate plant requires minimal pruning and yields well, even in unfavorable conditions. Stunning combined in mixed quarts with Indigo Cherry Drops or with other grape or cherry varieties, but unique enough to offer alone and brand by name. Harvest when background color fills in uniformly orange and fruits begin to soften. Indigo color is derived from anthocyanin, a known antioxidant.

Green Zebra

A beautiful chartreuse tomato with deep lime-green stripes, very attractive. The flesh is bright green and very rich-tasting, sweet, and has a sharp bite (just too good to describe!). A favorite of many high-end chefs, specialty markets, and home gardeners. Yield is excellent.

Purple Cherokee

An old Cherokee Indian heirloom, pre-1890 variety; beautiful, deep, dusky purple-pink color, superb sweet flavor, and very-large-sized fruit. Try this one for a real old-time tomato flavor.

Picture

Alice’s Dream

A super beautiful beefsteak tomato, bursting with antioxidants and an incredible depth of flavor. This medium/large beefsteak is golden yellow with red striping and a blue blush. We love this productive and anthocyanin-rich variety.

Picture

Honey Bee

An early, improved Artisan type with excellent flavor. Beautiful 15–20 gm. red- and yellow-striped fruit. Compact plant habit, high yields, and less cracking than others of its type, even when removing the calyx.

Picture

Speckled Roman
Speckled Roman is an elongated plum tomato, avg. 6-8 oz., with bright red skin and golden streaks. Meaty red flesh has little juice, is good for fresh eating, and cooks quickly into sauce. Excellent flavor.

Picture

Rio Grande Tomatillo

This special selection of tomatillo yields large, apple-green fruit. The medium-sized, determinate plants need no staking. The globe shaped fruit reaches 3-4 ounces, very large for a tomatillo, and the yields are very high. Best to purchase two plants for pollination.

Picture

Carbon

Delicious, highly productive black heirloom. Resists cracking and cat-facing better than other large, black heirlooms, producing a higher proportion of marketable fruit. Blocky-round, 10-14 oz. fruit with dark olive shoulders fading into a very dark, brick red. Boasts the signature rich flavor and meaty texture of a classic black tomato. Excellent yields and fruit quality for an heirloom. Productive over a longer period than similar types.
